I could have easily had your reaction if I was in a different mood while watching it.

And yes I meant the characters in the movie.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-643482069810224128.post-74210204547765081762007-01-13T12:46:00.000-08:002007-01-13T12:46:00.000-08:00"but everyone reacts pretty strongly when they're ..."but everyone reacts pretty strongly when they're made aware of the pregnancy/baby."

By everyone, I take it you mean... the characters in the movie. The audience knows about the pregnancy from the trailers.

Hope...? The prospect of a single woman being gangbanged to death in an effort to save humanity...?

Or her baby stripped away...?

Or tested on until her "secret" is cut out of her...?

I'm not sure why people assume this ending is a positive one. It is ambiguous. Which is perfectly fine, but nothing the movie sets up is resolved. That's the problem.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16897402622057966364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-643482069810224128.post-53534915122906906572007-01-13T06:44:00.000-08:002007-01-13T06:44:00.000-08:00I think basically the story is one of hope. That ...I think basically the story is one of hope. That basic idea that people will do a lot for hope is all you need to justify the story. I agree that you don't know exactly what will happen, but everyone reacts pretty strongly when they're made aware of the pregnancy/baby.

I initially thought the ending could have come a little earlier, leaving the boat as something for the audience to figure out. Did it come, were they real? However, after a day, I thought that would have betrayed the feel of the movie. That is hope.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
