Maiden Voyage

Since it seems everyone and their brother has a blog, my timing as always seems to be about perfect. Late and out of style.

I am a screenwriter. /gasp

Yeah, how many hundreds of blogs from screenwriters are on the web by actual professional screenwriters? Yeah, gotta be tens of thousands. So why throw my in-expertise out into the nether void of the web?

Well...

I am trying to start a career in the film industry. And for some reason I think it might be fun, and hopefully educational, to keep a running journal of my trials and tribulations. Hell, if nothing else, the utter humiliation and complete failure of a total stranger is always entertaining.

I have recently completed my second screenplay, A Little Peace of Heaven. And am now attempting to use it to land an agent, or a manager, or a producer. You know, find someone who actually wants to pay for my work?

I'm sure there are many of you out there in the same boat. Discovering that in order to get your screenplay to a producer you must have an agent. But in order to get an agent, you must be marketable, which usually means having something that's been produced.

I've read a grip of books, blogs, columns, and talked to numerous people who have an opinion on the business that is making movies... And you know what!? I still don't have a clue on how to "break-in."

But I, sure as hell, can keep a running track of all the ways I have tried to, plus all my future failures.

Don't worry. If you're just tuning in, you aren't missing out.

I'm a nobody. Trying to be a somebody.
