Bond... James Bond

This is one of the best spoof trailers I've seen that makes a movie I'd actually go see.

Tom Hanks, as 007, James Bond.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask. War movies are one of my least favorite genres. Only slightly behind historical epics.

That said, I do enjoy SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and THE THIN RED LINE. PATTON is a classic. The majority of war movies I like tend to be on Viet Nam. They seem to be smaller, more personal stories.

I think going with American heroes is the way to go if you aren't Paul Haggis or Clint Eastwood and can pull off the Japanese POV like LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. Notice, even those two heavy hitters needed to pre-empt it with FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS.

I am also of the opinion that people are really simply looking to see good movies. If you're 100 pages into it, I don't see what you have to lose by finishing it.

You probably already know this, as does your wife. I really don't have much authority to say anything on trends and what-not... so I'll defer my answer to the great William Goldman:

"Nobody knows anything."
